Smooth process, good support

I used eTax.com this year for both my Federal and State Tax Preparation. I had a slightly more complex return with some Investment Income Reporting, so I opted for the Deluxe Tax Filing package. The ordering process was easy enough, and I was able to navigate through the sections without too much trouble. I did have a question about a specific deduction, and I used the Live Tax Support. The representative was helpful and answered my question quickly, which was a relief. My return was accepted by the IRS without any problems, and I received my Direct Deposit Refund in about 10 days, which was faster than I expected. The PDF Tax Return Storage feature is also handy. Overall, a solid experience and I'd recommend it for people with slightly more involved returns.

Easy filing experience

Filed my Simple Tax Return. Interface was clear. Took about 30 minutes. Got confirmation quickly. No issues with the IRS E-file Service. Would use again.

Good value for my federal filing

I used eTax.com for my Federal Tax Preparation this year, mostly because I was looking for a good deal. I got a discount on the service fee, which made the cost pretty competitive. The process was straightforward, and I felt like I got good value for my money. It did exactly what I needed without breaking the bank.

Found a coupon code online for a discount on etax, but I'm not seeing where to put it in. Anyone know when you enter promo codes?

S Sarah N. 2 months ago
You enter it at the very end, right before you actually pay and file. It's on the final checkout screen.

Yep, don't worry if you don't see it earlier. It pops up when you're about to complete everything, before you hit the final submit button for filing.

Does anyone know if eTax has free federal filing? Or is it like, only for super simple returns or something?

C Cleo C. 2 months ago
Yeah, they definitely have a free federal option. I used it last year for my W-2 only return, no problem.

I think it's usually for the really basic stuff, like just W-2s and maybe some basic deductions. If you have investments or self-employment income, you probably need one of their paid tiers. Worth checking their site, they usually spell it out.

Can you actually get a military discount with etax? My friend mentioned it but I can't find clear info on their site.

R Rosa 2 months ago
I think they do, yeah. I remember seeing something about it, probably on their main pricing page or in the FAQs.

My cousin got one last year! It's usually a specific discount code or offer, sometimes tied to a certain time of year, but they definitely offer it. Worth checking their support or promotions page.

Hey guys, thinking of using etax this year. How long does it usually take for the refund to hit your bank account after filing with them? Just curious about others' experiences.

S Shane 2 months ago
Mine was pretty quick, about 8-10 days after the IRS accepted it. The e-file confirmation came super fast too.

It's not really eTax itself that determines the speed, more the IRS. But yeah, once the IRS processes it, if you do direct deposit, it's usually within two weeks in my experience. eTax just gets it to them fast.

Is eTax good for self-employed people? I've got some 1099 income this year and debating between them and TurboTax, trying to figure out which is easier for that kind of stuff.

D David G. 2 months ago
I used them for my freelance income last year and it was pretty straightforward. They have a specific option for self-employed filing that walked me through everything.

I've heard they're decent, but personally, for self-employment, I've always stuck with TurboTax just because I'm used to it. I think eTax definitely has the features for it though, should be fine.
